After much research and feedback I have realised that visitors to my new site are sometimes more interested in my pets than my books!!!! So here by popular demand is the return of the pet page.

Shelly

Our most recent guide dog puppy, Shelly, arrived in June 2006 aged 7 weeks. Although Shelly was probably the cleverest of the guide dog puppies we had trained (she could work out how to open complex toys in order to get at the biscuits inside!) she suffered from arthritis and had to be retired. She has since become a very happy and well-loved pet dog.  After Shelly left us we boarded Poppy, who was mad and adorable, and hope to continue to board dogs for the Guide Dog Association when we can.

Monty

Monty is our pet dog. Unlike most labradors he is a very fussy eater. He is very friendly, rather stubborn and absolutely adorable. Now approaching his seventh birthday, Monty is the wise old dog who acts as a mentor to the guide dog puppies!

Bob & Petra

Bob and Petra are twins. They are twelve years old. Bob is very highly-strung and Petra is very laid back.  Petra loves the dogs. Bob barely tolerates them and is very good at training the puppies to keep away from cats!

Guide Puppy Ufton

Ufton completed his final training a couple of years ago and is now a fully qualified Guide Dog living and working locally. We are very proud of him when we see him out and about doing his job! He was a lovely puppy although rather an obstinate one! These days he is a very good dog although still rather "lacking motivation" (Lazy!)

Guide Puppy Sassy

Our second puppy Sassy qualified a couple of years ago and went on to be a brood bitch to supply further puppies for guide dog training. She was a very sweet dog, biddable and very good on her training walks, although at home she did like eating shoes. Sassy's training was sponsored by the our local vet surgery and she has been on BBC radio and in the papers doing her bit to raise awareness for Guide Dogs. She has now had two litters of puppies, all of whom have gone on to guide dog training.
