Reviews:

"Nicola Cornick does a fine job of redeeming (Annabella) and making her into an attractive heroine. The secondary characters... like the pushy, selfish society beauty... and the setting give the book a real Regency feel". - The Romance Reader.

"Regency favorite Nicola Cornick pens a suspenseful yet tenderhearted tale of love between two people to whom fortune has been fickle." Romantic Times Magazine, July 2001.

"I very much enjoyed The Larkswood Legacy. There was a richness about it that I have sometimes missed in Regency Romances. It had a real feeling for the time and place and the writing was smooth and professional." - All About Romance 2001

I am delighted and proud that The Larkswood Legacy was nominated as one of the Top 10 favourite Regencies of 2001 in the Regency List Readers' Poll. Thank you!

About the book

My third book, is the sequel to True Colours. It features Alicia Carberry’s younger sister Annabella.

Despite her unhappy first marriage, the widowed Mrs Annabella St Auby found herself hugely drawn to Sir William Weston, and he in his turn made his interest in her very clear.  But then Annabella found that her sole inheritance, Larkswood, was of prime importance to Sir William and she began to wonder if his pursuit of her was for herself… or her legacy.

The Larkswood Legacy was published April 1999 in the UK and June 2001 in the USA. Reprinted in the UK in 2005 in The Regency Lords and Ladies Collection.

Nicola's Notes

I set the story of The Larkswood Legacy against the background of the Anglo-American War of 1812 – 1814 because it interested me that Great Britain had been a supreme naval power for hundreds of years but was now being threatened by the ascendancy of the new American navy.
